Independent research project
Anonymous reports of everyday noise: what it was, where, and when. Nothing here is measured. The point is to see where complaints cluster and whether they fall outside permitted hours.
Takes about 30 seconds. No name or contact details needed. No app to install: to find it quickly, add this page to your phone’s home screen.
Fig. 1
Circle size is the number of reports per locality. Colour shows the share outside permitted hours.
Fig. 2
Orange is the part reported outside that type’s permitted hours.
Fig. 3
Reports by weekday and start hour, with the day, evening and night periods used in environmental noise assessment.
A report is flagged “outside hours” when its start time falls outside these windows. Public holidays count as Sundays. Permits and exemptions for individual sites are not known here, so the flag means “likely”, not “illegal”.

This site does not pass your report to anyone. To make an official complaint, contact the authority responsible:
A way to collect everyday noise complaints in one place, because official complaint data is hard to get and slow to arrive. Reports describe what people heard and when. Nothing here is a measurement.
More reports in a locality can mean more noise, but also more residents, more people who know about this page, or less tolerance. Treat the map as a guide to where to look and where to measure, not as a noise map.
No names, accounts or contact details are asked for. Locations are kept at locality level. Please keep names and street addresses out of the details box.
This is a first version. Ideas, missing localities, a noise type that should be on the list, or anything that didn’t work: all welcome.
